About Kathy
Our journey through life is like a novel. Each chapter adds
to the story, creating and building who we are today. And like a novel, the
page that we’re on makes us excited to see what’s ahead. So who is Kathleen
Neely?
God blessed me in 1972 with Vaughn Neely, my husband and
friend. He supports all that I do and grants me freedom to chase dreams. Our
three sons, Brian, Stephen, and Darren, our daughter-in-law Brittney, and two
beautiful grandsons make our life rich.
I can’t say that we are empty nesters. We are now parents to
Madison, Tucker, Murphy, and Chester. (Lab, mixed-breed lab, sweet cat, and
psycho cat). Tucker and Chester are the interlopers. We’re not sure how they
came to be ours.
If God didn’t give you a sister, find and adopt one, and you
will be blessed. My sisters are a safety net, ready to catch me if I fall. For
the first time in twenty years we are all living in the same city. We laugh
together and cry together. Thank God for sisters.
I enjoyed the best job of my life during the stay-at-home
mom years. I highly recommend it to anyone who is able. Believe me, those years
speed by. Blink your eye and they’re over. To all of the moms out there, enjoy and
savor each precious moment. Even the hard ones will make you smile twenty years
later.
When my baby was no longer a baby, I returned to work,
teaching fourth grade. Facebook allows me to keep up with some of those
students. It’s such a joy to see where they are today and how God has added to
their stories. If you are a former student, I’d love to hear from you. Eventually
I graduated from fourth grade to serve as an elementary principal. A big shout
out to Eden Christian Academy in Pittsburgh and Shannon Forest Christian School
in Greenville, SC. Thanks for the memories.
Parkinson ’s disease was an unwelcomed surprise, leading me
to retire earlier than I had planned. But God, in His infinite goodness, had
another idea. My active mind makes up stories and God opened doors to allow me
to share those with you. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed
writing.

Stay tuned. The next chapter is yet to come.  I can’t wait to see what God has planned.
Remember the words of the prophet Zephaniah – The Lord your
God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save, He will rejoice over you with
gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud
singing. Zephaniah 3:17
